Embrace the Process

featuring Peter Santana

President of Legacy Builders and Chief Operating Officer at Stoneburner Inc.

In this episode of Brand Story, our president, Steve Gilman, sits down with Peter Santana, President of Legacy Builders, to discuss purpose, risk, and the unexpected paths that shape meaningful careers. From executive leadership in finance to global service work and now construction, Peter shares how embracing uncertainty and investing in people has defined his journey.

Careers rarely follow a straight line.

In this episode, Peter Santana reflects on the decisions that shaped his path—from the stability of executive leadership in finance to work that placed him directly in service to communities around the world. Along the way, he discovered that purpose, not position, often becomes the most important measure of success.

The conversation explores why so many professionals feel stuck in careers that no longer align with their values, and how fear of the unknown can keep people from pursuing meaningful change. Peter shares lessons on risk-taking, mentorship, and the importance of surrounding yourself with people who believe in your potential.

At its core, this episode is about learning to embrace the process. Growth rarely happens in perfectly planned moments, but through the experiences, relationships, and challenges that shape who we become.

Quickfire Q&A

What advice would you give your younger self?

Peter: I would tell myself, embrace the process. I’ve found that life is much more about the process than the finished product.

What would you call this chapter of your life?

Peter: I would call it the investing chapter. That’s the word that comes up a lot in my mind right now — investing in getting the company off the ground, investing in the other business and the structures and systems that I think will sustain it for the next 10 to 15 years, and investing in my family. I’ve got three boys, and this is my window to be able to invest in them.

If you look five years ahead, what do you want for yourself and what you’re doing in the world?

Peter: I want to continue to grow and build companies. I feel like my greatest value to the world is helping start and grow meaningful companies that add value to people’s lives.
