Challenge: In preparation for their 2017 Centennial celebration, Eastern Mennonite University wanted to re-assess how well their logo fit their mission, values, and current position. The process would involve understanding and representing the different perspectives of faculty, administration, students, parents, and alumni. A revitalized logo would also need to honor the university’s past, while speaking to its vision of the future.
Solution: Gravity Group collaborated with EMU leadership and their in-house marketing department on a process to gain input from a wide array of stakeholders – both on and off campus – through an in-depth assessment that included multiple discussions and surveys. Utilizing this feedback, Gravity Group developed a specific design direction and a number of logo concepts, and then worked with university leadership to select the best fit. The new logo was received very well by the EMU community, and is a centerpiece of their centennial celebration.
